About the Author

Laurie Gallus has over thirty years experience in the sport of Women's Artistic Gymnastics. She has participated as both a competitive gymnast and a part-time coach. Beginning her career as an acrobat, her transition to gymnastics was an easy one. Her accomplishments as a teenage competitor include two All-Around Vermont State Championship titles.

Laurie's pioneer spirit encouraged her to come out of retirement from the sport at the age of 22. By then, she was married and was mother to a two year-old son. As Laurie turned 34, she became the Vermont State Champion on Vault, Balance Beam, and Floor Exercise and crowned her effort with a Silver in the All-Around. She competed at Level 8 in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Program in the age 16 years and up division.

That same spirit has aided in the creation of Flip Outside the Box. Laurie hopes it will inspire all who view it.
